Dance Festival Northern Groningen
 |
"Op Roakeldais" is the Folkdance Festival of Warffum, 30 kilometres north of Groningen, only five kilometres from the Waddenzee, once a year the epic centre of a big cultural shock. Folk dancing groups from every corner of the world present themselves. From Chinese female perfection in colour and choreographies and from black pounding boots of Georgian macho’s and from swinging, whirling skirts to a mean Balkan bridal dance.
Groups from South Africa, Mexico, Ireland, Egypt and many other countries are participating in this festival, which takes place from June 28 th until
July 2 nd 2006.

Going to the Market
The Grote Markt is the heart of the city of Groningen and hosts outdoor markets several times per week. There is a goods market on the Grote Markt during Sunday opening hours, usually including music and/or theatre performances on the Waagplein. Booths selling flowers, antiques, books, cloths and many other things.

Inburgeren verplicht !
As of March 15th migrants wishing to settle in the Netherlands for, in particular, the purposes of marrying or forming a relationship are required to take the civic integration examination abroad.
Many people aged between 16 and 65 who need an authorisation for temporary residence (MVV) in order to come to the Netherlands will first be obliged to complete the civic integration examination abroad in their country of residence. This applies, amongst others, to people who wish to form a family with someone in the Netherlands (for example, through marriage or by forming a relationship) and to religious leaders coming to the Netherlands for employment, such as imams or preachers. In many cases, obtaining the integration examination becomes an additional condition needing to be met before an MVV can be issued. |

So they have to prepare themselves for the Civic Integration Examination Abroad. You can check whether you have to take the examination on the website of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND)>>
The Basic Civic Integration Examination consists of two parts:
1. Knowledge of the Dutch Language, and
2. Knowledge of Dutch Society. |
Dutch language skills
The component Dutch language skills tests whether you have attained a basic level of Dutch. The examination will only test speech and listening skills. You will not need to be able to read or write. This component consists of the following parts, each part with four exercises:
- repeating sentences
- answering short questions
- indicating opposites
- repeating two different short stories.
Each part will start with an instruction in the Dutch language.
You will hear all of the exercises one by one through the telephone. You will also answer through the telephone. Your answers will be assessed automatically by the speech computer. |

So it is important to understand Spoken Dutch on a basic level and learn to speak correctly before you come to live in the Netherlands! However, your accent seems to be no problem.
The test measures the extent to which you can understand Dutch spoken at a normal rate and if you are able to respond to this intelligibly and at a normal rate of conversation. |

New: Digidutch downloads and games
Students of the Digidutch Courses are now able to download all sound bytes in the lessons as separate mp3's for use on their ipod or mp3-player to practice while they're en route!
We've also developed extra practice for our Digidutch Students: they can now do little word quizzes and do several online games, just to practice and improve their knowledge of Dutch. This makes learning even more fun!
